Buy Warren Buffett

Returning readers will be familiar with the fact that I quote or refer to Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway every so often.

The Oracle of Omaha is reknowned for decades upon decades of successful stock picking as a track record, often beating the S&P500 market index.

Some time ago, it made sense to buy Berkshire Hathaway, as a proxy for how well American companies were doing.

Unfortunately or otherwise, with Warren Buffett retiring, a new generation of company stewards are now in control of the investment holding company.

Whilst Greg Abel is hand picked by Warren Buffett, and Buffett himself assures that Greg Abel will continue to steer the multi conglomerate, Buffett has also said that absent any clear insight as to whether a company will reap considerable returns, one is better off buying the market index.

This blog is, as always, not investment advice on any particular stock pick. It offers no opinion either way on the attractiveness of Berkshire Hathaway, post the retirement of Warren Buffett.

Conversely, neither is this weblog advocating a market return through buying the S&P500 index. It is unclear if America will have a good year moving forwards from today. It is further unclear, if, conversely, buying the index will prove to be bad timing, what with all the tariffs being imposed and even counter-imposed involving American companies.

The best suggestion this blog can offer is a choice between two possible books, if investors are looking to best or match the American market.

A. The reader could explore Buffett Unscripted. The latest bible on stock market investing quoting excerpts from Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. The book is available on Amazon Kindle and Kinokuniya, and its ideas are expected to indirectly filter down to the next generation of Berkshire Hathaway stewards.

B. The reader could also explore the suggestion to buy the market index, through the book Enrich Your Future. Also available on Amazon Kindle and Kinokuniya. If Berkshire Hathaway proves too much of an unknown quantity for the reader at this juncture, then perhaps buying exchange traded funds will prove more shrewd at this time.

Good luck, and happy reading. Please do leave a comment, question or like at the space below, if you wish to discuss!
