What Does Growing Old Mean??

You're not a doctor.
Much less so a geriatrician, specialising in old age.
In your youth particularly, you are or otherwise may have been in the pink of health - able bodied, young, immune from illness or disease, and therefore perhaps even feeling invincible in your young age.
Nothing can stop you from flying high.
Yet things could possibly happen even in your youth or later years that you would never have guessed you needed to prepare for.
What if you or an elder loved one fell ill? Even a simple private, general practitioner's consultancy visit would cost you a small sum. A visit to the general hospital, by contrast, would not only involve long waiting times, but you would not be spared from being charged a nominal sum.
Escalated further, an acquaintance of mine ended up with having to do a heart operation at a young age. Whilst the identity of the person is obviously kept anonymous, even if the heart operation at the government hospital in fees is heavily subsidised, how long do you expect not to be able to work for? Do you expect to continue to receive remuneration for the time that you out of work??
These example situation or two brings to light the need for an emergency fund. The need for an emergency fund is discussed in the book, Personal Finance 101. It is available both on Amazon Kindle Books and Kinokuniya.
We would, in the alternative, love to hear from you. Please let us know what you think about the need for an emergency fund. Is an emergency fund something you already have provided for in your accounts? Is it liquid and readily available for a rainy day? Do you have stories of how having an emergency fund saved you during uncertain times??
